About Our New Inductee

Before you buy a product, it's generally common practice to be familiar with what it does, the branding, and other details. We feel that the same rule applies to our "New Inductees" we announce each week, so this section is titled "About Our New Inductee." The information in this section will provide you with a quick yet accurate glance of what the product or service is all about.

Image of the Road Trip board game playing pieces. Classic, unique, eye-catching, portable...Any of those words can easily be associated with the board game "Road Trip". This is one of those games that with first exposure to it you find that with you have an insatiable desire to play it.

Could it be the portability, the simple and small footprint of the game container as well as the game board itself?  Or could it be the comical "Rest Stop" and "Challenge Cards?"  Not to be nonsensical but one of the evaluation team staff made a comical slip of the tongue; "This game is really a trip!"  Yeah, a Road Trip!

Let's get rolling! Your road trip begins with the first player picking up one of the "Challenge" cards, (from the top of the stack of course). He or she reads the card out loud to the rest of the players then rolls the letter die.   

The excitement begins to rise once the letter die stops rolling and the first letter is showing.   This is when any of the players can flip the little hour glass timer and the player has to scramble. More simply put in short summary...
  • Roll the letter cube
  • Answer the challenge cards
  • Be the first car to make it all the way across the map.
It is all too obvious there are plenty of surprises in the game that provide loads of challenges but I will cover those details in the next section.

Additional Details & Perspectives

While it's great for some people who just want a cursory glance at what a New Inductee is all about, there are many others who have a greater appetite for more information. This section is titled "Additional Details & Perspectives". and will provide you with additional details and perspectives associated with the product or service being featured here.

Okay, for others the bare basics about a game are enough but not for us in our evaluation. Road Trip is not just another one of those slap happy games to join the ranks of so many other where they are played once, then off to the closet, or even the trash can!

As you will soon see, Road Trip as a significant volume of unique twists and challenges that require you to use your brain. Just the fact of having a car instead of the usual "seen one seen them all" playing pieces tells you a lot. After all, what's a Road Trip without a car?

Earlier in this report summary I mentioned about a players having to provide three word answers, each starting with the same letter as is on the letter die. Guess what...there's more to the game than that!

"Challenge" Cards

There are four types of "Challenge Cards".  Each one has its own unique characteristics so that you never know what kind of challenge you are up for next with each turn.  The different types of "Challenge Cards" are defined below;

  • "Tell Tale" Cards - The player must complete the sentence by filling in the blanks on the card using the letter they rolled.  It must make sense with proper verbs, nouns, etc. as illustrated on the card.
  • "List Three" Cards - Player must list three things in each card's categories.
  • "Lead Foot Five" Cards - Player must list any five words that start with the letter they have rolled.
  • and "End of The Road" Cards - Player must list any five words that end with the letter they have rolled.
If this wasn't creating enough levity in the game Play, I have even more to enlighten you with!  Introducing the next cards that could be a good or bad thing for a player.

"Rest Stop" Cards

Any time a player lands upon a "Rest Stop" even more unexpected fun begins!  Rest Stops are shaded circle spaces on the Road Trip game board. When a player lands on one, they can draw a "Rest Stop" Card from the top of the stack.  The important part of the matter here is that when a player pulls a "Rest Stop" Card, they had better be prepared because the card may prove to be one of good fortune OR dismay, (like having to go back a few spaces.)
The "WILD" Space On The Letter Die

Notice the letter die in the platform at right? Well, the letter die has a "Wild" space.  If a "WILD is rolled, the player must use the same letter that was pulled by the LAST player!  Yeah, I know, that is not fun yet it sure adds a bit more spice and excitement to the game!

Winning The Game

Winning the game is quite simple.  The game ends when the first car reaches the "Star" space on the East Coast of the game board.

Consumer Hands-On Evaluation

Nothing is more powerful than hands-on experience by a consumer with a product when it is under evaluation. Based upon that fact we put a number of products we currently are slated to evaluate at the mercy of consumers in a hands-on evaluation where anything goes. The information to follow will explore the responses from the participants in our spontaneous hands-on consumer evaluation of the products available for their review.

All of the products we brought for the hands-on evaluation in Las Vegas and NYC received nothing short of the most rave reviews from our participants.  What proved of interest to us was how Road Trip had so many people literally captivated from the very start with the classic tin design. 

It was so amazing for us all to see the participants so caught up in the game container before had even opened it up to see what was inside. Once the lid was off and the game board along with the other game components were pulled out, the fun really began.

The many "Challenge" and "Rest Stop" cards were creating an atmosphere of levity and enjoyment. This was before the game as even being played! 

Once the games actually began to be played, the participants learned even more about the Road Trip game and were fully engaged in their game Play.  Just as our independent evaluators had shared in their full reports, a number of the parents made remarks about how the game created a strong desire to learn more.

Road Trip encouraged quick and immediate response. Many of the adults shared comments of how long it had been since they had put their brains to use in such a manner. Just imagine seeing so many people eager to play the game with a hunger for more stimulation and challenge to their brains!

After reviewing all notes, feedback forms, and still shots from our evaluations and events, Road Trip had clearly pushed the pedal to the metal and passed this segment of our evaluation with the highest of recommendation to retailers, distributors, and consumers at large.

Road Trip gave a fun on this ride for evaluation of CREATIVE AGENDA. The creative agenda of the game is exceptional, being applicable for hybrid use. Road Trip delivers a guarantee of a strong narrative progression and response level as well as development of creative thinking and cognitive abstract symbolic reasoning. The players have to think and get creative with every single game.  There's no sitting on your buttocks and taking your time.

Road Trip provides a challenge that causes an addictive effect, and I mean ADDICTIVE! Players always wanted to go for at least two-three games in our testing.. Road Trip pulled a perfect score of [5] Stars in this evaluation category for CREATIVE AGENDA.

funQuotient™ is an another evaluation category where Road Trip showed its unique characteristics that make it so fun. Road Trip is a game that not only is good for home fun but puts the funQuotient™ back into long road trips where there was none before.  It manages to maintain an equal and solid balance with skill development and improvement of social skills.

Road Trip has all of the right elements to create a strong level of funQuotient™. The literally endless number of narratives which could be developed to win this game, serve as a catalyst to create competitive challenge. Road Trip pulled well ahead of the just average score and came in strong with a score of [4] Stars in this evaluation category for funQuotient™.

LEARNING CURVE: Rating Level - [4.5] an image of 5 gold  stars

With Road Trip the LEARNING CURVE was fairly simple and short.  A little reading and a trial run and your are off to the faces!  Having a game designed with a short learning curve adds greater value to the game. It creates a stronger inspiration for players to strive even harder to develop their creative expression skills to win the game. This also enables Road Trip from being boring and redundant. Road Trip comes racing across the finish line falling short of a perfect score by just half a digit with a score of [4.5] Stars in this category for LEARNING CURVE.

MARKETABILITY: Rating Level - [5] an image of 4 gold  stars

Road Trip clearly was working the valuable attributes in MARKETABILITY. It contains all of the primary elements we need to consider in the marketability of a product. Road Trip appeals to a vast range of age groups as well as being a hybrid product. Road Trip is a game that sells itself. Once a consumer get their first experience with Road Trip, they will not only play the game again but will share their the delight of their experience with others again and again.

The classic looking shiny tin that holds all of the game components alone adds a very strong level of scoring for marketability. Road Trip comes through in this evaluation category with a perfect score of [5] Stars in this category for MARKETABILITY.


SKILL IMPROVEMENT: Rating Level - [4.5] an image of 5 gold  stars

Road Trip possesses all of the right elements to create a progressive rate of skill development and improvement for players of all ages is inevitable with repetitive play. It is more than obvious to see that Road Trip makes a substantial contribution to skill development in this evaluation category, yet although the probable level of skill development is so strong, there other actors taken into consideration. Road Trip rocks the house yet misses a perfect score by just half a digit with a final score of [4.5] Stars in this category for SKILL IMPROVEMENT.


VISUAL APPEAL: Rating Level - [4.5] an image of 4.5 gold  stars

VISUAL APPEAL posed a very strong challenge for us in our evaluation. The metal tin is so well defined when it comes to visual appeal, yet the challenge rest stop cards need just a little tweaking in the imagery to pull it all the way to the top. The game is simple, no spectacular splash of imagery yet the simple and bright colors with very visible text draws the attention of everyone so well.  Road Trip came in with a powerful score rating of [4.5] Stars in this category for VISUAL APPEAL.
