Got game? Well Commander-In-Chief - The Board Game sure does. Out of the entire number of kids, teachers, engineers, doctors, industry brick and stone buyers and general consumers, all but 3 felt thatCommander-In-Chief is a game they would gladly play again repeatedly. 

Commander-In-Chief is a 2 – 4 player board game. It has 30 highly detailed plastic miniatures in black and silver and a double-sided game board; one side dark, grey tones, the other more traditional combat color theme. The miniatures consist of submarines, jets, bombers, tanks and battleships.



 
"This company has chosen not to follow the rest of the herd in their game design. They have created an entirely new path that will inspire others to follow. 

The game is made in the USA with such superb detail in the miniatures, taking chess and checkers where others have not yet ventured. Endless possibilities are just waiting to be explored with Commander-In-Chief.

The idea of a double-sided game board has been taken to new heights in its use with Commander-In-Chief. You first have the primary game, Commander-In-Chief, then you have the classic games of chess,checkerstic-tac-toe, and even The Triangle Puzzle Game.

Despite such a variety and number of games to choose from, the learning curve is practically non-existent and well worth the effort to become acquainted with. Altogether, Commander-In-Chief puts entirely new dynamics into strategy board game fun with a simple and easy to understand structure.

Consumer Hands-on Evaluation
Details about the experience at our consumer hands-on evaluation event.

It was the experience of a lifetime observing the variety of parents, teens, tweens, and kids at our consumer hands-on evaluation events, each having their go at playing Commander-In-Chief. The most common factor was that everyone was having fun being challenged to beat their opponents. It was especially of great interest to see that many of the kids were beating the socks off their parents!

With Commander-In-Chief, we found that the waiting list for those who wanted to play the game was well beyond the length of any other game we had available at these events. When asking the participants what made this game of greater interest than the others, a large majority of the people said it was the game packaging! The second most common reason was how it reminded them of the "Battleship" movie that recently was debuted.


 
"I love how the little jets, tanks, subs, and battleships were all so detailed! That just made the game more appealing and fun to play for me and my kids. I especially liked how they were larger than most game pieces I see; easier to play with and maintain my attention."

When all of the events had drawn to a close and everything was all packed up, we sat down to review the videos, feedback forms, and our personal notes. We found one particular point to be of extreme interest. It appears that many of the participants didn't usually take interest in any games that had anything to do with military or combat yet Commander-In-Chief was an exception. 

Even after careful study of the feedback forms and videos, we were unable to establish a definitive answer as to what the actual reasoning was behind the exception to the rule in the shift of thinking. However, this did serve to further confirm the final results of our evaluation for Consumer Hands-On Evaluation Commander-In-Chief pulled through this evaluation phase with one of the highest scores of all of the products.

As with most of the games that have passed our evaluation, the CREATIVE AGENDA produced in game play with Commander In Chief creates a historical memory function which demonstrates recognition of the significance of experience, strategic planning and development, active thought processing, interactive social development, and executive cognitive functioning in learning.  This transitions into application of the newly acquired knowledge, and entertainment combined to develop quick response strategy development.

After reviewing all feedback forms, video tapes, staff notations and category rating sheets, it was clear to see thatCommander In Chief achieved a perfect score of [5] stars for CREATIVE AGENDA.

It was of no real challenge for our staff to establish an accurate measure of the FUNFACTOR™ associated withCommander In Chief. With Commander In Chief, the high level of funFactor™ was responsible for plenty of excitement and competitive spirit. With each move by the players, Commander In Chief served as the perfect catalyst to create plenty of smiles and looks of fascination. 

After reviewing all feedback forms, video tapes, staff notations and category rating sheets, it was clear to see thatCommander In Chief achieved a perfect score of [5] stars for FUNFACTOR™.




GAME STRUCTURE: Rating Level - [5an image of 4 gold  stars

Commander In Chief posed an interesting challenge to say the least when it came to establishing the final rating score for GAME STRUCTURE. The reasoning behind this is quite simple. You don't have just one game withCommander In Chief, but rather 4 games at the minimum in addition to a double-sided game board. We determined that the best way to approach this was to address each of the games separately and combine the final rating scores for each into a single compilation of rating scores.

There were so many factors to consider in the evaluation of the game structure from the creative agenda & narrative progression to the psycho-social response levels of the players and the overall process of the gameplay from start to finish.

The narrative progression of Commander In Chief drives a player to continue to compete with the impression of possible domination to win the game. With many other board games we have reviewed, players often times interpret the challenge of a game with a defeatist attitude; never expecting to win. With Commander In Chief, the attention of the player is maintained consistently while stimulating the player's desire to play repeatedly, regardless of whether they win or lose.

After reviewing all feedback forms, video tapes, staff notations and category rating sheets, it was clear to see thatCommander In Chief achieved a perfect score of [5] stars for GAME STRUCTURE.




MARKETABILITY: Rating Level - [4.5an image of 4.5 gold  stars

The evaluation category of MARKETABILITY proved to be simple and easily determined. One of the most powerful elements to determine this was the results from the consumer hands-on evaluation. From the results to the packaging and price point to the actual experience of gameplay, Commander In Chief was clearly ahead of the game in regard to marketability.

One of our independent evaluators said it so well: "... a sense of fascination is established in varying degrees, differing with each individual. This takes Commander-In-Chief from being just a simple, average board game into an 'experience' that is recalled from memory and shared often with family and friends." 

Despite the near intoxicating excitement from all of the positive aspects of Commander-In-Chief, there are still other perspectives that must be taken into consideration. The footprint on a shelf at a brick and mortar store and the shipping weight can be factors that can divert a retailer's attention from the full value of a product.

Commander-In-Chief does have a medium sized footprint, yet still lesser than many others seen in the marketplace. It also has some weight that might cause a few more pennies to have to be spent in shipping. These two factors caused Commander-In-Chief to fall short of a perfect rating score by a mere 1/2 a point.

After reviewing all feedback forms, video tapes, staff notations and category rating sheets, Commander In Chiefpulled its weight all the way to a perfect score of [4.5] stars for MARKETABILITY.




NARRATIVE PROGRESSION: Rating Level - [5an image of 5 gold  stars

Narrative progression is a different kind of creature to take into consideration when evaluating a product. It is a vital part of the design structure of a game design. In the design of a double-sided board game such as Commander In Chief, a smooth transition in the narrative or flow of the game must be maintained. This means taking on the challenge of maintaining the attention of the player while at the same time delivering content which will inspire a player's desire to come back for more. 

Commander In Chief creates a smooth progression of challenge and strategic development, while encouraging the player to develop a progressive evolution of their strategy development in gameplay and learning simultaneously. After reviewing all feedback forms, video tapes, staff notations and category rating sheets, it was clear to see thatCommander In Chief achieved a perfect score of [5] stars for NARRATIVE PROGRESSION




RESPONSE LEVEL: Rating Level - [5an image of 5 gold  stars

RESPONSE LEVEL was of the more prominent evaluation categories that Commander In Chief excelled in. In every single testing and evaluation environment, Commander In Chief delivered a response level that was quite commendable. As a matter of fact, we can honestly state that if a retailer were to host demos of Commander In Chief in their store, there would be no question of a strong level of sales coming from it. 

Commander In Chief provides a competitive challenge that players just can't get enough of. Even more important, the players never experience the exact same game twice! This raises the response level of the players well beyond most board games we have tested in years.
