"My first impression of the product when I saw the box was not the most favorable, but I was more interested with the product itself. I was curious to see if the product was perhaps one of those 'unknown' perfect solutions. Considering that summer is already giving us a peek at what is coming with the heat, this product could not have come into my hands for evaluation at a better time than now.
I would like to make a point that I hold a very strong level of attention and concern for infants in regard to heat burns from car seats, and a variety of carrying & recreational products when exposed to excessively high environment temperatures. Seat belt buckles, metal snaps, and a variety of other items are well documented for causing burns to an infant, even up to second-degree level burns. My fears in this realm were quickly relieved with the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad. Throughout all testing of the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad for burn risk from either heat or cold, it proved to provide a solution which kept all areas of critical concern at a level of temperature which produced no risk of burning or discomfort for the infants used in all phases of the testing.
To fully understand the value of a product before you buy it, you need to identify the need you are trying to fill, identify the product to help you meet that need, and make sure the product isn't too little or too much in what you desire it to do. "The Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad is a wonderful development in cooling and warming pads. With the immense number as well as diverse variety of infants and toddlers I work with, I was able to create a very strong study with a good solid base of infants and toddlers.
The Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad packaging box is far from complimentary of the incredible product it holds inside, yet it will still serve its purpose. Considering the weight and contents of the box, I think the company did well as far as packaging size is concerned.
Using our Pre-school / Special Needs facility, the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad was in a perfect environment for testing both cold and hot use. We first had the challenge to develop our testing plan and number of infants / toddlers we were intending to use. Once that was completed, our next step was actual application of the product in use for each segment.
The Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad was put into actual use with two groups of 10 different infants and toddlers. The first 10 were from our regular curriculum and the second set was from our 'Special Needs' groups. In regard to the performance of the product, there was no bearing from type of group or ethnic origin.
With every infant and toddler, the results were quite consistent. In the forced-air rooms which had the temperature level lowered (while still remaining within Federal requirements), the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad was more than effective with no sign of perspiration occurring with the infants and toddlers. The air flow was quite good in the chairs, strollers, jumping toys, and car seats. The foam structure in the pad and the mesh which covered it caused no apparent sign of discomfort in the slightest.
In the outside testing segment with chairs, strollers, jumping toys, and car seats, the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Pad worked very effectively! No matter what item the infant or toddler was in, they remained comfortable during the testing period despite the near triple-digit temperature outside. (Each test period outside was 15 minutes.) We discovered that the infants as well as the toddlers remained active in the jumping toys for nearly the same period of time as when inside."

Nothing is more powerful than hands-on experience by a consumer with a product when it is being evaluated. Based upon that fact we put every single product we evaluate at the mercy of consumers in a hands-on evaluation where anything

For this product, we performed our consumer evaluation using two different approaches. The first was to have baby strollers equipped with the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad available at a mall for mothers to get hands-on experience with. The other approach was to have two mothers use the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad for a period of weeks as part of their every day life.
The responses we received from the mothers in both environments were all exceptional, with nothing but praise being given for the product. The key points which most of the mothers expressed were as follows:

- The portability and ability for a mother to use it virtually anywhere.

Obviously neither myself nor the mothers can tell us from personal experience as to the level of comfort with the use of the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad, but considering the reports from our professional evaluators, hands-on evaluation, and our own staff evaluation, the comfort level of the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad was more than adequate.
Durability: Rating Level - [5] 
Durability of a product is a vital concern to a mother of an infant or child. When it comes to the level of durability with this product, it was more than sufficient to pass our evaluation in this category. The challenge was to create a cold/warm pad that worked effectively, had a strong level of durability, maintained a comfortable feel, and still remain within a reasonable price range. The Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad managed to to do exactly that! The Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad was run through our toughest durability tests yet still managed to pass this category evaluation segment.

It proved itself again and again with every test in every environment it was introduced to. The same thing occurred with another product in the past, but situations such as this are a rarity. The design and conceptual use of the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad is quite an innovative undertaking and an original product without a doubt.
Marketability: Rating Level - [4]
When it comes to marketing value, the Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad holds a score well above average. Jing Joe Cooling/Warming Infant Pad has functionality and price you are looking for, but the box design is well below the quality of the product itself as far as visual appeal. In combining our evaluation guidelines and the hands-on experience survey responses, the product pulls a score which is a single digit short of perfect in this rating. It is an excellent product for specialty stores.
